POCUS and Simulation

Our Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum combines structured didactic education with hands-on clinical application. Residents participate in dedicated lectures and workshops using normal volunteer models to develop foundational ultrasound skills. POCUS training is further reinforced through bedside learning on patient cases across multiple clinical settings, including the general medicine wards and ICU, where residents apply ultrasound findings to real-time clinical decision-making.

Simulation-based education is an integral component of resident training. In addition to having 24/7 access to the ACLS simulation room for independent practice, residents receive formal training in the simulation laboratory focused on code management, resuscitation skills, and central venous catheter placement.

Procedural training is incorporated throughout the academic year and occurs during dedicated noon conference workshops and rotations, including the ICU and Radiology rotations. Residents gain supervised experience in a variety of bedside procedures while developing the technical and clinical skills necessary for independent practice.
